In 1983 the Ulverstone Rep. moved into the new Leven Theatre and since then have performed two to three productions a year. The Leven Theatre is 250 seat intimate theatre. There is good access for the disabled and the front row accommodates wheel chairs. The viewing is good from all seats – no middle isle and no pillars.
The Leven Theatre is the home of Ulverstone Rep. Over the years we have performed many theatre restaurants along the coast and further afield and this has increased our Leven Theatre audiences. We have a good following from the Circular Head area through to Latrobe, Sheffield and many travel from the Launceston area.
For many years Ulverstone Rep. performed in the original Leven Theatre situated when Coles Supermarket now stands. When this was sold in the early 1970s the society produced many productions in the Ulverstone High School assembly hall. These were fun and rewarding days but moving to the new Leven Theatre with it’s amazing fly tower, modern dressing rooms, even a Star dressing room, in 1983 was the highlight of a long dramatic history.
Ulverstone Rep is always looking for new members. There is many aspects to theatre and everyone is important. There is a lot of work to be done behind the scenes and an energetic team is essential. Maybe you have some talent that would be useful to us so put a bit of drama in your life and join the Ulverstone Rep.
