Ulverstone Rep is happy to announce it is supporting the production of a new work this August. The Road That Cuts The Rivers is a play set in Burnie and written by Ulverstone Rep member Ross Hay with the assistance of Hobart’s Blue Cow Theatre ‘Cowshed’ programme. The drama centres on Kaila who has grown up in Burnie and now longs to leave. When a handsome stranger arrives in town one evening, Kaila thinks she might have found her chance. But first she must overcome her fears, expectations and her mother and find out where she’s really going. Hard hitting at times and dealing with the issues faced by young people on the North West Coast the play nonetheless aims to give a dramatic representation of life in modern Tasmania. This work is supported by Arts Tasmania Grant funding.
